Mykki Blanco drops her first 2013 release, debut EP Betty Rubble: The Initiation out on UNO NYC/Mykki Music.

Mykki Blanco has this to say about the EP: “The Initiation EP is aptly titled as I feel the music on this release is my way of initiating listeners into the lyricism and storytelling, the hard hitting rhymes and tripped out cadences that have become the signatures of what make the Mykki Blanco sound. I know that I can be a chameleon but this EP peels back the layers of persona to reveal to you Mykki Blanco the rapper and nothing else. You can love it or hate it but this is HIP HOP.”

The Stress is the DJ alter ego of Diederick van den Ende. Starting out in 2011, The Stress hosted Sunday afternoon chillwave / electro-pop parties in his hometown Utrecht and started DJ’ing. While the nu-disco wave spread across Europe, The Stress played his first gigs in Amsterdam. It was here that he developed his taste for progressive disco, mixed with queer-, vogue-, house-, internet-, new beat-, and electro-influences.

The Stress is resident DJ for the Amsterdam based queer family UltraSexi and a regular for our parties.

Because of The Stress’ involvement in activism and academia, The Stress solely plays for queer, pride and intersecting causes worth supporting.

Slava is a musician and visual artist currently residing in New York. Born in Moscow, he has spent a significant number of years in Chicago where he cofounded Moment Sound Recordings and played an active role in the city’s electronic music community. He has been performing live since 2003 (usually using nothing more than a few Korg Electribes). His music has been released on Future Times and Software Recordings and featured on Mathematics Recordings and !K7 compilations.

Slava’s production doesn’t belong neatly to any category but, rather, surveys many and, zelig-like, freely borrows from them. Rooted in Chicago House, he dissects, reconfigures and recombines elements of everything from Vogue to Pop, R ‘n’ B, Hip-Hop, British Bass and Ambient. Many of these genres are tied to or catalyzed by a robust dance culture and Slava re-presents them for constant re-appraisal in digestible sets sharing as much with a DJ’s work as they do with that of a live instrumentalist in performance.
