Here comes the brand new flava in ya ear

Chen aka Chima Hiro is a music fan first and foremost. That manifests in the way she dances (we're legit sorry for you if you've never seen her dance) and in how she was already looking for special tracks in the most unexpected corners, well before she even dreamt of being a DJ. But the best DJs in the world are indeed music fans above all - before process, or medium, or aesthetics, or lifestyle - and this DJ has always done things for the realest reasons.

The tracks she picks for her NYCE & SLO show on Rádio Quântica embrace a spectrum that is as expansive as it is surprising, just like her untainted taste. Moody but colourful, innovative but archetypal - it's music that touches on new age and jazz as well as distorted beats over acid lines or uplifting, melodic house. Her path in DJing runs parallel to her radio beginnings and has taken Chima Hiro to dominate booths - and consequently, dancefloors - of some of our underground's most exciting parties, whether alone or flanked by some of the most spot-on selectors that Lisbon has produced. - Inês Coutinho

Alcides, also known as DJ AL, is a respected DJ, with faithful followers who rely on his digger nose (there are records only he has and there are records that only he has the courage to play) and the musical taste free of style prejudices.

Active since the 90s, Alcides went through the mythical early rave movement (Xabregas) and followed the birth and growth of the Portuguese clubbing scene but always maintained a position of participant observer, being part of it, without ever getting lost in its intricacies. Alcides is also a musician and producer, he has the project Slight Delay with Tiago Miranda and The Deal with the british Djd. In addition to being a DJ with an infallible finger but not a member of any club (he crosses techno, house, disco, rock, soul, jazz and electronics without creating schizophrenia).

Scotland-born Parisian Paradise 100 aka Graham/Africa has been percolating stripped-back, bouncy-castle house constructs onto the web for a couple years but never locked them in wax till now. High time.

Paradise 100 has unveiled the first track off his debut EP The Loin King, which comes out October 1st on 100% Silk. Pitchfork premiered title track "The Loin King", describing it as a "six-minute house jam" that "sweetly unfolds into something...expansive and tart."

Following his minimalist dictum that "any more than three tracks on a song is just indulgence," his debut EP's four cuts on The Loin King share a sleek, spare design, jigsawing slinky bass, classic keys, lean drum programming, and flashes of synth mirage into fluid, aerodynamic patterns. Touches of melodic acid and crossover new wave color the mood an exotic, hedonistic hue (further evinced by titles like "The Loin King" and "French Kissing In The House Of Love"). His own vision of the project is appropriately fantastical: "The image in my mind is of tropical forests at night, torchlight, distant sounds of tribal ritual dance and ghosts."

Aki's passion for electronic music started by listening to 80's pop records from his older fellows. From 1995 to 1998, he played drums on various post-rock bands. Slowly though, he moved towards electronic music, which pushed him to buy two turntables. His dj'ing then rapdily evolved through waves of various electronic music styles such as dub, trip-hop and electronica but neatly tied together with some solid minimal-techno and house...

In 2005 Aki joins Toys For Boys Records meanwhile holding a residency at parties in Brussels.

In 2006 he decides to launch his own imprint alongside Franco Cangelli, they call the label Aesthetik Records. Since 2009 they started two new labels (Mowar/Nowar) with still that contemporary look on what is techno & house.

Like many kids in late 80s/early 90s Belgium, AAGUILAA was captivated by the swirling innovation of EBM and New Beat. But only after experiencing the full-body feeling of italo disco and hi-NRG played over a proper soundsystem he matured his lifetime love for neon lights and for the darker, synthesized side of dance music.

He is resident and programmer at Los Niños but also known as the founder of FFORMATT, our temporary cultural space in the heart of Brussels, now closed.
