Buenos Aires (AR) - Berlin (DE)
Moro is an Argentinian DJ, producer and vocalist based in Berlin. Having played the guitar since his early teens and studied at a jazz conservatory in Buenos Aires, the artist channels a wide array of influences. In 2016 NON released San Benito - Moro's debut EP, which brought him rave reviews and great chemistry with club crowds.
Moro's profile rose rapidly through his furious DJ sets at shows including GHE20 G0TH1K, Boiler Room, Bala Club and Moscow's Mars Centre. San Benito EP is a five-track conceptual take on the forgotten African heritage of the Argentinian tango, displaced from the nation's iconic musical tradition. Situated between experimental club music and reflective sound art, San Benito throws us back to primordial times, with naturalistic themes including howling wolves, crows and crushing waves. Having said all that, Moro can also be all about fun, with edits such as "JKY" – his take on Justin Timberlake.
Moro has recently performed at GHE20 GOTH1K nights in NYC, in Berlin, and at Vienna's Hyperreality. The Argentinian has also composed an aquatic-themed soundtrack to "The Forgotten Space" seminar held in the Croatian island of Lopud by the Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary. Moro's music was played at the event during breaks between talks, which were dedicated to the misuse of marine zones through activities such as human trafficking and pollution.
