ELECTRO.ITALO.DISCO.ROCK. Emma Elisabet Baas was born on the 29th of march 1978 in Delft, the Netherlands. Coming from a musical family, both sister and steph-father drummers, at home everything was about music. When Emma was 18 years old, she moved to Rotterdam to study at the school of Arts, and gratuated as an art-director in Advertising in 2000. During her study she bought 2 old recordplayers, (one without pitch) borrowed a mixer from a friend and threw parties at home. That’s where her passion for music and dj-ing grew stronger. After her study she travelled around the world to dance, she was a part of ‘Aquarella do Brasil’ a brazillian samba showballet from Rotterdam. After one year of dancing she started working for a filmproduction company. For two years she free-lanced as an assistant producer and assistant director. Only from ’02 she became more active as a dj. Every month in Club Stalker in Haarlem Monica Electronica and Estelle Decibel played as a dj duo by the name: ‘De Nachtzusters’ (‘The Nightsisters’). In the summer of ’03, Monica Electronica and two of her friends (one of them Dj Josz Lebon) felt it was time for a residency, so they created a place of there own.. A new bar was born on the roof of the Van Nelle factory in Rotterdam and called it: Bar Tabac. They set the tone with a not often heard sound in the region: ElectroItaloDiscoNewbeatRock.. Her connection with Electronation really took her dj career a few steps further. She started playing in several famous clubs in Holland. In ‘04 Monica Electronica started to travel around to spin the weels with international gigs.
